About Swimming Smarter
Over the past fifteen years, Ryan has helped swimmers of all ages and abilities improve their swimming technique, from learning-to-swim children and adults to Olympic Champions. Ryan's experience as a biomechanist, swimming coach, strength and conditioning coach, and team leader have helped countless swimmers improve their technique and become faster swimmers.
Years of success and failure allow Ryan to appreciate both the art and science of supporting athletes, in particular the nuance of delivering feedback for learning and performance enhancement. As a biomechanist with a coaching background, Ryan has mastered how to analyze an athletes technique, and then relate that information into actionable steps that lead to both learning and long term performance improvement.
Ryan is a former national-level competitive swimmer, and continues to swim (and occasionally compete) recreationally. He completed his M.Sc. specializing in swimming biomechanics, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
